Make it Monday

Lifeinmyhousefulofboys

Well, I haven't been so productive getting things completed in a timely manner...but, finally I have a new item finished for today.
This capelet was made for a 7 year old birthday girl. Madeline is modelling it for me.

Austentatious Crochet: 36 Contemporary Designs from the World of Jane Austen

This pattern is called the "Off to Bath Capelet" and is a quick fun project. My daughter Grace (12 years old) has made one already and is working on another! My older daughters are thinking to make the pattern larger because it is so charming...and my girls wear things like this :) (shouldn't be too difficult of a modification)

Spelling Bee

Today we had a Spelling Bee....
...not an official bee...just a 'change of pace' kind of spelling test.
The older chldren did a great job! Grace and James learned all of their words and the definitions.

The younger three have the same words and definitions this week (words from their Archaeology unit study)
The younger three had a pretty respectable showing....but were definately out spelled by their older siblings!

Megan's pink on pink outfit is NOT authorized attire!...but she sure likes pink!

Here the youngers quiz the older two...neither of whom ever missed a word!

Their spelling/vocabulary list?
Here you go:
Asiatic
baulk
dowry
drachma
dynasty
mastabas
Nubia
pharoah
amphitheater
bathhouse
inscription
Anatolia

Even with this look, James did just fine!

This Morning We Woke Up To............................

It doesn't actually snow that often where we live....but we have been watching these tulips pop up and weren't imagining that they would get a coat of snow before they bloomed...
I must say that the snow is so very peaceful...it is so quiet with it's sound insulating affect. It is very wet and melting, but still a pretty sight!

A Sunday Hike

We are having beautiful weather here in the Northwest corner of the US. We usually get a week of sunshine around now, but then, can't count on seeing the sun until about July.
So, after church, we headed to a local lake for a quick hike around. Emily took her camera and got some great pictures...

I love the rosy cheeks and outdoorsy look!

Our Twinkles....forever friends!

Benjamin and Emily are showing the blank space that Sarah has left....well, only temporarily left. She is in  Texas w/ my parents and her young cousins until next Sunday.

Em snapped this great shot of our 4 boys...chatting up a storm - as usual! I love this picture because it is such a good representation of their relationship....our boys enjoy visiting w/ each other ALL THE TIME! Such a priceless common occurence at our house.

Hope you had a Blessed Lord's Day!

Make it Monday

Today's Make it Monday ...............

Lifeinmyhousefulofboys

is going to feature Madeline.

I was not able to work on a project this week....lack of sleep and helping Rachel care for preemie lambs. (Which are both still living, one looking quite well, and the other...we're still waiting....improvements every day!)
Meanwhile, Miss Madeline has been knitting up a storm. Sarah and I are hosting a little knitting group called 'Knit and Natter' for some young ladies ages 6-9. It meets once a month. They are working on little squares that are samples of some basic knitting stitches.  They will make 12 squares and sew them together for a dolly blanket. Madeline has completed 8 of the squares. She has actually made at least twice that many, and taken them out because of mistakes. Her perserverance has been amazing! So, without further ado, here she is with her work......
